Total Brain Frequently Asked Questions

My Login/Password won't work. What do I do?

Your login is your registered email address for Total Brain. Your password for the assessment is the same for Total Brain. If you have forgotten your Total Brain password, you can have a reset password emailed to you.

I've been given a Sponsorship Code, but it doesn't work.

Please copy and paste the unique sponsorship code you received into the sponsorship code field. If that still does not work, please contact Support.

Can I use Total Brain on my Mac?

Total Brain can be used on any computer that has an internet browser and Adobe Flash installed.

A video Insight won't load. What do I do?

If you are not seeing anything when an Insight is launched, this is most likely because you do not have the correct version of Adobe Flash Player installed. Download and install the latest version.

Also, sometimes Videos can be slow to load on slower internet connections. Try clicking ‘play’ and then ‘pause’. Leaving it on pause for 1-2 minutes will allow the video to fully download. You should then be able to play the video continuously. Alternatively, access the Brain Insights from a computer or a time when you know you can get greater bandwidth and faster connection speeds.

What do I need to run the Total Brain Assessment?

My Total Brain Assessment can be run on any computer that has an internet browser and Adobe Flash installed. The computer must have an internet connection. Parts of the assessment are based on timing and accuracy. An external mouse is not required, but is recommended to provide the most accurate results.

The Total Brain Assessment application won't run. What do I do?

Ensure that your computer meets the minimum requirements as noted above and that you have access to run (or install) applications. If you are still unsuccessful, we recommend you try it on another computer.

How long does it take to complete the Total Brain Assessment?

Once you have logged in, the Total Brain Assessment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Can I restart or attempt a previous assessment again?

The best advice is to be sure you are ready before you hit the OK/ START button before each task. Once an Assessment task has begun, you cannot restart or redo it. To do so would compromise the validity of certain testing domains such as memory or invalidate any measure of speed and accuracy.

What if I need to pause during the assessment?

The assessment will pause between each sub-test, where the program will wait for you to touch ‘START’. This pause can be used in the event of necessary interruptions (e.g. to go to the bathroom).

Please note that any interruption longer than 5 minutes may affect the assessment outcome and is not advised. Any lengthy break invalidates the integrity of the assessment – potentially increasing the cognitive load on memory and the effect of fatigue or alternatively allowing cognitive recovery if people are allowed to rest between sub-tests.

There is no way to pause the assessment once a particular task has begun.

What happens if my computer fails during my assessment?

The Total Brain Assessment periodically saves your progress in encrypted files on your computer. If there is any interruption to the test, you will be able to recommence the assessment from the sub-test where it was interrupted. To resume an assessment, restart the software on the same computer and login using the same login/password as soon as possible.

In the event of an interruption, you should reconnect to the assessment immediately.

Data are only uploaded at the end of the assessment. If your internet connection drops out during the test, the test sequence will continue as normal and ask you to provide an internet connection at the end of the assessment – in order to upload the data.

I completed the assessment, but the program won't upload the data. What do I do?

Firstly, please check that you have indeed completed the last task – it will not upload an incomplete data set. Then check that you are connected to the internet (Open up an internet browser and attempt to browse to a website e.g. www.google.com). If you are connected but the data will still not upload, you can manually email the results of your test to us by performing the following actions:

  • On the SAME COMPUTER where the testing was completed go to the Start Menu and click on ‘Search’ then ‘Search for Files and Folders’.
  • Enter the text ‘MYBRAIN’ (without the quotes) into the ‘All or part of the filename’ field.
  • Expand the ‘More advanced options’ arrow and check the “search system files”, “search hidden files” and “search subfolders” boxes. Once this is done, click ‘Search’.
  • The search should yield a *.pmb file, with MYBRAIN and numbers preceding the .pmb (e.g. MYBRAIN-00001.pmb).
  • Email the data file to support@totalbrain.com
I completed Total Brain Assessment but cannot find my report. What do I do?

PAID OR SPONSORED MEMBERSHIP:

The report from your assessment is uploaded to your Total Brain’s Dashboard (your homepage). You will be able to log in to Total Brain to view your report within minutes of completing the assessment.

If your report has not yet loaded after 10 minutes, please follow the step above for ‘I completed the Assessment, but the program will not upload the data’.

FREE ACCOUNT:

If you registered for a free account, you’ll only have access to your brain health score plus a few sample training apps. Your full assessment report will not be available, unless you upgrade to a paid membership.

 

Total Brain Report is missing scores. Why?

The most common cause for this is if the Total Brain Assessment wasn’t completed according to task instructions, with the result that certain data necessary for calculating scores may be missing.

How do I manage my subscription?

To view, update, or cancel your membership details, log in and go to ‘My Account’ in the top right corner of your Dashboard. Then click on ‘Manage Membership’.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

Subscription to Total Brain provides continuous service and you are automatically billed at the start of your billing cycle to the credit card on file. You can cancel your subscription at any time. After cancelling, your account will remain active through the remainder of your billing cycle. Your user data will be stored so that you can restore your account at any time. To re-activate your old account, contact accounts@totalbrain.com.

I've been given a Sponsorship Code, but I had already purchased an account

Contact Support so we can upgrade your account to a sponsored account and cancel your subscription for individual membership.
